Sisters and Ceramics

I have been working really hard in all my classes, but I have to say working hard in Ceramics is the most rewarding. A good term paper isn't as visually impressive as a good ceramics project is. Recently in ceramics I have made a working waterfall, thrown bowls on the wheel, and as my historical reconstruction project, a Egyptian organ jar.
The waterfall definitely took the most time. especially finding a water pump and making it work in the waterfall. What you can't see is that the waterfall is hollow with built in container to hold the water to keep the pump working. I took forever to work everything out. But it is so worth it.
Throwing bowls on the wheel is a lot harder then it sounds. If you find a video on youtube of someone throwing on the wheel it looks so easy, but let me tell you it is anything but easy. I've been working on throwing for hours for the past few weeks and I still suck. But I thought that it would be fun to see Jennifer trying to throw. So I took her to the ceramics room and taught her how to throw. And we had a lot of fun. The bowls that we made actually turned out pretty good.
I've had so much fun with Jennifer and I will miss her when she goes back to Provo. I'll blog more about what we did when the weekend is over.
