New School Year-Fall 2011

I left home on Friday, September 9, for Rexburg, ID. I left late because the night before we took my car in to get new axles because mine were broken. At the same time i finally was able to reach some in the office of Northgate apartments (I called on Monday and never got a response and left a message and never got a call back). At which time the woman I was talking to informed me that I was rooming with none of the people I requested and that the office is closed on Saturday so I won't be able to check in until Monday, which is also the first day of school. I told that I couldn't do that that I didn't have a place to stay, I needed to get into my apartment. So she gave me Jessica's number (She is one of my roommates) and so I called her and she said she would unlock the door for me so I could move in on Saturday. So I got that figured out.

Me and Mom left to pick up my car at 8:45am. Went we got there Dad was already there. Which was nice. I didn't think I was going to see him again before I left. After they were done putting together my car I said goodbye to Dad again, which was REALLY hard. By the time I got home and packed my car I was ready to leave at 10am. So then I had to say bye to Mom and Sassy and that was REALLY hard also. After saying goodbye I left for Provo, UT where I would stay the night with Jennifer.

I got to Provo with only one problem. Within the first hour of driving a rock flew up and cracked my windshield!!! It freaked me out one second I'm driving along the next I see something big flying at me and then a loud cracking noise. But other then that it was smooth sailing. I got to Provo at 8pm and the second I parked I looked out my car window and there was Jennifer, Tamera, and Brin in Jenn's car. So I get in her car and we went to their kick ball game. Only Jennifer and Tamera played me and Brin watched. They really take kick ball serious at BYU, I didn't know kick ball had that many rules!!

After the kick ball game, Jenn's team lost 11-21, We went back to Jennifer's dorm. As we were getting out of her car some boys, I think there are in their FHE group were leaving for the movies and invited us to go along. So Jennifer, Tamera, and Brin changed their clothes and then we left for the movies. We saw Super 8. I didn't like the plot, but I really liked the kids in the movie. They were really funny. After the movie we talked with the boys a little bit and then we went home it was late and we were tired. But before we went inside Jennifer's dorm we unloaded my car of all the things I brought up to Jennifer. After bringing the stuff inside we went to sleep.

Saturday me and Jennifer went shopping at Plato's closet, looking for boots. I didn't find boots, but I found a really cute purse and a white over coat. After leaving Plato's closet we went to Big 5 Sporting Goods to look for boots. There I found a perfect pair of shoes, so I shouldn't fall as much this year. After we were done shopping we went to Doc's Pizza for lunch. I really loved hanging out with Jennifer and I wish I had more time, but at 12:30pm I had to leave so I could get the chip in my windshield fix.

So I said bye to Jennifer and got my windshield fix and was on my way to Rexburg. I made it to Rexburg at 5pm and with the help if two of my roommates Xanning (pronounced shanning) and Sydni (She is the one I share an actual room with)I unloaded my car and get my bins from storage. Then for the next two hours I unpacked. And I still wasn't done when Xanning and her friend Kendall invited me out to dinner. So I went to dinner with them to Wingers (Which was really good by the way!!!) and then to coldstone (Xanning works there and got free ice cream for her and Kendall I didn't want any) Then we went to Walmart and I ran in real quick and got me a few things to tide me over till Monday. Then we came home I finished unpacking and went to bed. We have early morning church, it starts at 8:10am.

This morning I got up and got ready for church and then got a ride to church from Maddie and Hannah, two of my other roommates. I got really lucky because all of my roommates are really sweet. And I love my ward. It is really big and all if the people seem really nice and our adult supervisors are very nice. So I'm excited it should be a fun ward and Semester.

And now some pictures of my apartment.

This is a picture of my side of the room.

Sisters and Ceramics

I have been working really hard in all my classes, but I have to say working hard in Ceramics is the most rewarding. A good term paper isn't as visually impressive as a good ceramics project is. Recently in ceramics I have made a working waterfall, thrown bowls on the wheel, and as my historical reconstruction project, a Egyptian organ jar.
The waterfall definitely took the most time. especially finding a water pump and making it work in the waterfall. What you can't see is that the waterfall is hollow with built in container to hold the water to keep the pump working. I took forever to work everything out. But it is so worth it.
Throwing bowls on the wheel is a lot harder then it sounds. If you find a video on youtube of someone throwing on the wheel it looks so easy, but let me tell you it is anything but easy. I've been working on throwing for hours for the past few weeks and I still suck. But I thought that it would be fun to see Jennifer trying to throw. So I took her to the ceramics room and taught her how to throw. And we had a lot of fun. The bowls that we made actually turned out pretty good.
I've had so much fun with Jennifer and I will miss her when she goes back to Provo. I'll blog more about what we did when the weekend is over.

Winter Semester 2011

A new semester has started and the last two weeks have been very busy. I have spent the last two weeks just getting used to my new classes. And my new job!! Yes that's right I finally got a job. I work Monday through Friday 4am to 7am cleaning the Kimball building. And surprisingly I really like my job even the hours aren't as bad as they sound. But in other news I have decided what my new favorite class is this semester and it is definitely ceramics. I have only been to three classes and I can already tell that I'm going to love it. The pace is a lot faster then in my high school class where we had anywhere from three weeks to a month to work on a project. In this class I have a week to finish a project. But this fast pace makes sense since the class is only 13 weeks long.
This week we were assigned to do project using the coil technique. So I decided That I would make a pitcher with snakes wrapped around it as handles.

I was so excited about this project that I finished it in two days. So when I went to class on Thursday (we were supposed to use Thursdays class time to work on our projects) with a finished project I asked my teacher what he wanted me to do now, since my project was finished already. I was hoping that he would let me go so that I could take a nap, but no such luck. My teacher looked at me and said, "Well you have three hours until the class ends, so why don't you make another art piece." And so I did. I made a bear cookie jar.
